On the 6th August 2019 THE ESTABLISHMENT OF CHILDREN’S HOMES BILL (SENATE BILLS NO.12 OF 2019) was read for the first time in the Senate and thereafter committed to the Senate Standing Committee on Labor and Social Welfare for consideration.
Pursuant to article 118 (1) (b) of the Constitution and Standing Order 140 (5) of the Senate Standing orders, the Senate Standing Committee on Labor and Social Welfare is inviting members of the public and stakeholders to submit their view on the Bill.

Mode of submission
Public Hearings for the Bill shall be held on Wednesday, 11th September, 2019 starting from 11:30 am to 1:00 Pm at the County Hall Mini Chamber, 1st Floor, County Hall Building, Nairobi.

About the Bill
The Bill seeks to enact ‘‘AN ACT of Parliament to provide a framework for the care and protection of neglected children within the Counties; to provide a legal framework for the registration and licensing of childrens homes within the Counties; to give effect to Article 53 with regard to neglected children; and for connected purposes’’.
